Dr. Remi Hueckel

Biography

Rémi Hueckel is an Associate Clinical Professor at the Duke University School of Nursing and also serves as an Associate Professor in Pediatrics. He is the Director of the Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Major MSN Program. With a rich background in pediatric critical care, Dr. Hueckel is a member of the pediatric critical care nurse practitioner team where he leads clinical education and simulation for nurses, residents, fellows, and advanced practice nurses. His scholarly practice emphasizes the importance of patient safety and high-quality, team-based care. Dr. Hueckel utilizes a teaching philosophy focused on communication, teamwork, and inter-professional education, applying simulation to enhance patient safety. In academia, he plays a vital role in facilitating discussions and fostering partnerships among PICU clinicians and educators. His extensive clinical background allows him to influence the care of critically ill children and the academic development of future pediatric and critical care colleagues. Dr. Hueckel is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and was inducted as a Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners in 2011.
