Biography

Ren Ng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley. His research interests span imaging, graphics, computer vision, human vision, and artificial intelligence. Prior to joining Berkeley, he was the founder and CEO of Lytro, Inc., where he commercialized his Ph.D. research to bring consumer light field cameras to market. Ng completed his Ph.D. in computer science at Stanford University, and his contributions to the field have earned him multiple prestigious awards, including the ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award, the Hellman Faculty Fellowship, and the Sloan Research Fellowship. Ng has graduated several Ph.D. students and actively leads research that contributes to advancements in visual computing and perceptual imaging.
