Dr. René Repasi

Biography

René Repasi is a Professor of International and European Union Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He has an extensive background in EU law and financial governance, having served as a legal expert in various capacities, including his involvement with the European Parliament. He has been a member of the European Parliament since February 2022, contributing significantly to committees focused on internal market and consumer protection, economic monetary affairs, and legal affairs. Previously, he was an Associate Professor and the Scientific Coordinator at the European Research Centre for Economic Financial Governance. His academic journey includes work as a research assistant and lecturer in EU law at prestigious institutions such as the University of Heidelberg and the German University of Applied Sciences in Fulda. Repasi holds a Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg, where his dissertation addressed the supremacy of EU law over private international law. He teaches courses in international and EU law and participates in moot court competitions, demonstrating his commitment to education and the practical application of legal principles. His research interests focus on the legal implications of economic financial governance within the EU, particularly concerning banking regulation and the constitutional aspects of the Economic Monetary Union.
