Biography

René Schwok is an emeritus professor at the Department of Political Science and International Relations, and served as the Director of the Geneva School of International Studies from 2015 to 2019. He directed the Master's programs in European Studies and Advanced Studies in International Security, as well as in Global Security and Conflict Resolution. He held a Jean Monnet Chair in Political Science and was a Research Fellow at the Geneva Center for Security Policy (GCSP). Schwok obtained his Doctorate from the Geneva Graduate Institute and completed part of his training at the Center for European Studies at Harvard and at the Institute for European History in Mainz.
