Dr. René Torenvlied

Biography

René Torenvlied is a Full Professor at the University of Twente in the field of Public Administration. His research focuses on the management of public organizations and the inter-organizational collaboration that promotes the public interest within technologically transforming societies. He holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Amsterdam and a PhD in Sociology from the University of Groningen. René has held various esteemed positions including Professor of Public Sector Management and Scientific Director at the Institute of Public Administration at Leiden University. Throughout his career, René has received numerous awards and is recognized for his contributions to research, earning grants such as the VIDI grant from the Dutch Science Foundation. His involvement extends to editorial roles with various academic journals and active participation in research associations. His work aims to provide insights into public governance amidst complex and uncertain environments, focusing on collaborative networks, public safety, and crisis management. René is also committed to inspiring students to utilize multidisciplinary competencies to address real-life challenges in Public Administration.
