Biography

Renee Flasher has been teaching and researching at Penn State Harrisburg since August 2018. Prior to moving to Central Pennsylvania, she taught at Ball State University and received her PhD from Pennsylvania State University, main campus. She has worked in the industry as an external financial information technology auditor and an internal auditor prior to transitioning to academia. Flasher holds a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting from Case Western Reserve University and enjoys teaching government and non-profit accounting, forensic accounting, and information technology auditing, supporting students as they begin their accounting careers. She has published a variety of articles concerning fraud, standard setting, sustainability, and gender equality across a range of publications, from practitioner-focused outlets to top 40 journals. Her work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Accounting Education, Current Issues in Auditing, the Journal of Business Ethics, the Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting & Financial Management, and the Journal of Forensic & Investigative Accounting. She is also a member of several professional affiliations including the American Accounting Association (AAA), the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE).
