Biography

Reto Luginbühl is a prominent researcher and head of the Chemistry Biology group at RMS Foundation, Switzerland. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from the University of Bern in 1993 and 1997, respectively. From 1997 to 2000, he worked as a research associate at the University of Washington's Engineered Biomaterials Center in Seattle, WA. In 2001, he joined RMS Foundation. His research focuses on biocompatibility and cleanliness, specifically in the context of preventing infections and engineering scaffolds for cartilage and bone repair. Luginbühl's work includes the development of novel antimicrobial coatings and understanding material-cell interactions in tissue engineering. He engages in collaborative research with academic institutions and industry to advance the fields of biomaterials and cell therapies. He also teaches courses related to (Bio)Materials and Introduction to Material Science in the Master's Program in Biomedical Engineering.
