Biography

Reuben Rideaux is an NHMRC Emerging Leadership Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the School of Psychology at the University of Sydney, as well as an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Queensland’s Brain Institute. He previously held a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at the University of Cambridge and completed his PhD at the Australian National University. His research combines computational modeling, brain imaging, and psychophysics to study perception and cognition, with a particular focus on developing new methods for understanding brain function and dysfunction, bio-inspired artificial intelligence systems, high-resolution functional MR spectroscopy, and neural decoding. He has been awarded $2.5M in competitive research funding and published over 30 scientific papers, gaining national and international recognition for his work, and was named one of the Top 20-40 biomedical researchers in Australia in 2022. Reuben serves as the Executive Secretary of the Australian Cognitive Neuroscience Society and frequently presents his research to various audiences, including research groups, health professionals, politicians, and the media.
