Biography

Reza M. Baygi is an Assistant Professor at the KIN Center for Digital Innovation at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where his research focuses on the role of digital technologies in transforming work, organizing, and activism. His current projects investigate the transformations in working conditions and career dynamics associated with online labor platforms, commonly referred to as the gig economy. Baygi approaches these topics through the lenses of practice and process philosophy, with a particular emphasis on the role of temporality and the relations between humans and technology. His recent work on the concept of flow has been published in MIS Quarterly. Baygi holds a PhD in Business Administration from ESSEC Business School, where his dissertation addressed social movements and the performativity of organizing. He also has a Master’s degree in Business Administration and another in Socio-economic Systems Engineering, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Iran University of Science and Technology.
