Dr. Reza Langari

Biography

Reza Langari is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University, where he holds the Regents Professor title and the Mast-Childs Chair. He is also affiliated with the Department of Aerospace Engineering. Langari's research focuses on computational intelligence, mechatronics, dynamic systems control, robotics automation, and autonomous vehicles. He has made significant contributions in the field of fault diagnosis and identification, particularly in the context of rehabilitation robotics. Langari has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, obtained in 1991, and has been recognized for his professional achievements with various awards including the Lifetime Achievement Award from the World Automation Congress in 2022 and a Paper Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in 2001. He has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in teaching, receiving the B.P. Amoco Award for Teaching Excellence in 2001 and serving as a Bechtel Faculty Fellow from 2000 to 2001. Langari has also been a NASA Faculty Fellow at Ames Research Center and a Boeing A.D. Welliver Fellow in 1999.
