Biography

Rhanor Gillette is a Professor Emeritus in the Molecular Integrative Physiology department at Illinois University, where he conducts extensive research in the field of Computational Neuroscience. His work centers on the neuroethological aspects of decision-making circuits and the neural and genomic bases of behavior. He employs an integrated approach combining behavioral analysis, neurophysiological techniques, and computational modeling to understand the evolution of complex brains from simpler forms. Gillette's notable interests include the neuronal mechanisms underlying decision circuits and their roles in cognitive processes, as well as the comparative neurobiology of marine organisms such as the predatory sea-slug Pleurobranchaea and octopus species.
