Biography

Rhodes Pinto received his Ph.D. in Classics with a focus on Ancient Philosophy from the University of Cambridge in 2016. He is an Andrew W. Mellon Fellow at Stanford University's Scholars in the Humanities. His areas of expertise encompass ancient Greek and Roman philosophy and science, with a particular emphasis on Presocratic thinkers. Pinto maintains active interests in the histories of Western and Eastern philosophy as well as Greek and Latin literature. He has taught a variety of courses on ancient philosophy and introductory philosophy. His scholarly work has been published in reputable journals such as Oxford Studies in Ancient Philosophy, Phronesis, Apeiron, and Ancient Philosophy. In recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the 2025 Cornerstone Business Teaching Award for his work in conjunction with the Cornerstone Integrated Liberal Arts program at the Mitch Daniels School of Business.
