Biography

Rhonda L. Evans is an Associate Professor and Instruction Director at the Edward A. Clark Center for Australian and New Zealand Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. She is a scholar in comparative law and politics, focusing on how courts and human rights institutions intersect with public policy to promote accountability and advance the rule of law, with particular emphasis on developments in New Zealand and Australia. Dr. Evans is the author of 'Legislating Equality: Politics of Antidiscrimination Policy in Europe' published by Oxford University Press, and her research is published in leading journals such as the Policy Studies Journal and the Australian Journal of Political Science. Her ongoing work investigates the politics of administrative law and tribunals in Australia and the evolving role of the New Zealand Supreme Court. She has served as Convener of the International Political Science Association’s Research Committee on Comparative Judicial Studies and has received several awards, including the Jean Holloway Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Harry Ransom Award for Teaching Excellence. Before entering academia, she practiced law as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Ohio and served as a staff attorney with the Southeastern Ohio Legal Services. Dr. Evans has held visiting appointments at Australian National University and Victoria University of Wellington.
