Biography

Dr. Rhonda C. George is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Guelph. Her research focuses on the social intersectional dimensions of race, racialization, and racial stratification within social institutions such as sport, education, popular culture, and medicine. Grounded in Black Studies and Critical Race Theory, her work explores how Black communities, particularly Caribbean diasporic groups, experience, navigate, and resist systemic racial barriers. Dr. George's interests lie in Critical Race Studies, Black Studies, Intersectionality, Social Reproduction, and the Caribbean Diaspora, as well as Sociology of Sport, Medical Sociology, Education, Black Girlhood Studies, and Black Popular Culture.
