Biography

Dr. Ricardo Mejia-Alvarez obtained a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Colombia in 2000 (Summa Cum Laude), followed by an MSc degree in Thermal Engineering in 2004 from Universidad de Antioquia in Colombia. He earned his PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2010, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. Dr. Mejia-Alvarez joined the Physics Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2010, where he conducted research in biomechanics and related fields. His research interests primarily include computational modeling and simulation of traumatic brain injuries, as well as spatial effects of surface roughness on turbulent boundary layers, contributing significant publications in these areas.
