Biography

Riccardo Marin is a professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) specializing in Machine Learning and Robotics. His research focus is primarily on Computer Vision, Virtual Humans, and Machine Learning, with an aim to enhance Artificial Intelligence's understanding of the three-dimensional world in ways that align closely with human perception. He investigates analogies between objects and recovers corresponding geometrical and semantical points, with a specific interest in the analysis of 3D human data. Methodologically, his work involves extending industrial approaches such as spectral shape analysis, 3D signal processing, and geometric deep learning. Marin received his Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Verona. He has also served as a postdoctoral researcher at Sapienza University of Rome and the University of Tübingen, backed by fellowships from the Humboldt Foundation and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the European Union. In 2025, he was appointed as a professor at TUM and is a member of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS).
