Riccardo Rattazzi was born in Novara, Italy in 1964. He studied physics at the University of Pisa, where he graduated cum laude in 1987. He carried out graduate research in theoretical physics at Scuola Normale Superiore. Following his studies, Rattazzi worked as a post-doctoral research associate at both Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory and Rutgers University. In 1998, he obtained a permanent research position at the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare in Pisa. He was a staff member of the Theory Division at CERN from 2001 to 2006 and was appointed as a professor of physics at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in 2006. His research interests include the dynamics underlying electroweak symmetry breaking, symmetry principles, supersymmetry, and the fundamental interactions of gravity.
