Biography

Rich Rabone is an Associate Professor at the University of Warwick, specializing in early modern Spanish literature and intellectual culture. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Oxford, where he also held a Junior Research Fellowship at Merton College in 2015. Rabone has lectured at several colleges, including Queen’s College and St. Catherine’s College. His research primarily focuses on the reception of classical authorities in early modern Spain, particularly through the lens of literature and philosophy. He has a keen interest in the city of Seville and has explored topics such as literary wit, translation, and the medieval mester de clerecía poetry. Currently, he is working on a monograph published in June 2023 that examines the Aristotelian golden mean's reception in early modern Spain, as well as a significant project on literary imitation in the poetry of sixteenth-century Seville. He is also actively involved in mentoring postdoctoral candidates and research students interested in early modern Iberian culture.
