Biography

Richard Allcock holds a PhD and has extensive experience in the field of Medical Science with a focus on Genetics. He completed his postdoctoral studies with John Trowsdale at Cambridge and has worked at the Cambridge Institute of Medical Research and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. He returned to Perth in 2003 and became a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Western Australia (UWA). Subsequently, he took on a lectureship at the School of Surgery and Pathology, where he emphasized undergraduate teaching and curriculum development, particularly in BSc Pathology. In 2009, he was promoted to Associate Professor in the new School of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and became the director of the LotteryWest State Biomedical Facility, which specializes in Genomics at the Royal Perth Hospital. His research interests encompass Next-Generation Sequencing, Genomics, Bioinformatics, Immunogenetics, Exome Sequencing, and Whole-Genome Sequencing, making him an active contributor in these fields with numerous collaborations and publications.
