Biography

Richard Bruce, MD, is a Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he serves as the Vice Chair of Informatics. His academic pursuits focus on the integration of artificial intelligence into clinical workflows, aiming to enhance the efficiency of medical imaging and radiology practices. He has dedicated a significant portion of his efforts to the development of AI-assisted clinical decision support systems that streamline the ordering of medical imaging and integrate AI with various imaging modalities. This work has enabled improved interpretive workflows for radiologists, facilitating actionable results and enhancing communication through electronic health records. Dr. Bruce has been instrumental in promoting an environment of informatics innovation within UW Radiology, fostering deep collaborations with industrial partners to optimize research efficiency. His career began in the mid-1990s as an internetwork engineer at Cisco Systems, where he led efforts on computing resource network implementation.
