Richard Bryant undertook his undergraduate medical training at the University of Sheffield, where he completed an intercalated BMedSci degree in pathology in 1995, and qualified in 1998. He completed Basic Surgical Training in South Yorkshire in 2003 and was awarded a Medical Research Council Fellowship from 2004 to 2007. During this time, he undertook a PhD researching the molecular mechanisms of prostate cancer progression. Bryant has mentored under Professor Freddie Hamdy and was appointed as a Locum Consultant Urologist in Oxford in 2015, specializing in the diagnosis and management of prostate cancer, combined with ongoing research. In 2017, he was appointed as Honorary Consultant Urologist and serves as the Academic Director at the Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences. He is currently a Cancer Research UK and Royal College of Surgeons of England Clinician Scientist Fellow, facilitating his ability to integrate patient care with a wide-ranging research portfolio in prostate cancer.
