Biography

Richard Campbell is a Senior Lecturer in Physical Pharmacy at the University of Manchester, with expertise in resolving complex soft matter interactions and fluid interfaces, combined with novel applications of neutron optical reflectometry. His primary research interest lies in understanding dynamic non-equilibrium interfacial behavior in complex systems where parallel processes occur over varying time scales. His research advances the understanding of a diverse range of interfacial phenomena involving mixtures of surfactants, polymers, proteins, peptides, cyclodextrins, nanoparticles, nucleic acids, drugs, and lipids. His work addresses scientific problems foundational to formulation science with considerable societal impact on health and the environment. Campbell has published over 120 peer-reviewed articles, amassing more than 3700 citations and achieving an H-index of over 40. He leads several educational programs, including the Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Advanced Training MSc programme and oversees key units in the MPharm programme. He holds external positions as an Honorary Professor at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest and is elected as the UK delegate to the European Neutron Scattering Association.
