Dr. Richard Chaykowski

Biography

Richard Chaykowski is a Professor at Queen's University, where he is the Program Director of the Master of Industrial Relations (MIR) within the Faculty of Arts and Science. He has a PhD from Cornell University and is cross-appointed to the Faculty of Law. His academic career includes positions as a Visiting Scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Toronto, and McGill University. Professor Chaykowski has served as the Visiting Chair in Human Resources at the federal government, focusing on strategic policy development. His teaching and research center on labor policy in the new economy, investigating the intersections between labor policy and law, labor market institutions, and collective bargaining, particularly within North American contexts. He has contributed significantly through various scholarly articles published in prominent journals, including the Canadian Journal of Economics and the Journal of Labor Research, and has co-edited several important volumes in industrial relations and labor economics. He is recognized for his ability to engage with diverse audiences from both public and private sectors, advocating for evidence-based policies and supporting stakeholders across a variety of capacities.
