Richard Curry obtained a BSc in Theoretical Physics with First Class Honors from Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) in 1996 and completed his PhD at the same university in 1999. He has significant experience in the field of photonic quantum materials, including pioneering work on near-infrared emitting organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Following his doctoral studies, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton and subsequently became a Professor of Photonics at the University of Surrey. In December 2016, he joined the University of Manchester as a Professor of Advanced Electronic Materials and has since directed the Photon Science Institute. He also holds various leadership roles, including Vice-Dean of Research & Innovation and Associate Vice-President. His research focuses on new photonic materials and devices, particularly in relation to quantum technologies and nanoscale engineering. Richard has led numerous EPSRC-funded projects and collaborates extensively both nationally and internationally.
