Biography

Richard D'Arcy is an Associate Professor in Particle Accelerator Physics at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on the development of novel particle-acceleration techniques with a particular emphasis on plasma-wakefield accelerators. He leads the Plasma-Wakefield Accelerator Group and is involved in addressing critical challenges in particle physics and photon science applications in medicine and industry. Prior to his current role, Richard served as a Research Associate at Fermilab in the USA and as a Research Fellow at DESY in Germany, where he later became a Group Leader on the Beam-Driven Plasma Accelerators Project and Coordinator of the FLASHForward experiment. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Durham and University College London, respectively. Richard actively encourages prospective doctoral students who are interested in both novel and conventional accelerator research, and is dedicated to advancing the field through innovative research initiatives.
