Biography

Richard D’Innocenzo is a Clinical Professor at the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine specializing in General Dentistry and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He received his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and an MD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, completing oral maxillofacial surgery training in 1994 at the University of Pennsylvania. Since joining the full-time faculty at Boston University in 2006, he has focused on residency education and administration while also emphasizing ambulatory general anesthesia and treatment of maxillofacial pathology. His research interests include dental implantology, and he has published extensively, serving as the Co-Editor of a textbook on Minor Oral Surgery. D’Innocenzo actively participates in organized dentistry at both regional and national levels, holding positions such as Past President of the Massachusetts Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons and Past Chair of the American Dental Education Association Section on Oral Maxillofacial Surgery/Anesthesia/Hospital Dentistry. He is also involved with numerous committees for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. A frequent presenter of scientific abstracts at national meetings, he is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons, a Diplomate of the National Board of Dental Anesthesiology, and a Fellow of both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists.
