Biography

Richard Edelson, MD, is the Anthony N. Brady Professor of Dermatology at Yale University, where he has significantly influenced the field with his research on cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) and immunotherapy. He earned his MD from Yale School of Medicine and completed his dermatology residency at Harvard, with additional training at the NIH and Columbia. After his return to Yale in 1986 as Professor and Chairman of the Dermatology Department, he also served as Director of the Yale University Comprehensive Cancer Center and as YSM Deputy Dean involved in clinical departments. His pioneering work has led to the introduction of photopheresis, a blood therapy for CTCL, and he has published extensively, contributing to the understanding of immune responses and skin diseases. Having served as chairman for 37 years, he is recognized for his leadership in multiple prestigious organizations. Dr. Edelson has received numerous honors, including Castle Connolly's National Physician of the Year and various mentorship and discovery awards. His research team focuses on developing immunotherapies and understanding the interactions of dendritic cells and T-cells in cancer treatment. He actively collaborates internationally to advance these topics in clinical settings.
