Biography

I am a Visiting Scientist in the Garvan Institute of Medical Research where my research centers on the molecular evolution of human cancers. Additionally, I am a Conjoint Professor at the UNSW Clinical School, St Vincent's Hospital, and the Medical Director and Department Chair of Oncology at the New Hope Cancer Centre in Beijing United Hospital, China. My clinical work includes a close collaborative relationship with the Peking University Cancer Hospital, where we conduct GCP-accredited clinical trials. In 2009, I returned to Sydney to help establish the Kinghorn Cancer Centre and contributed to the creation of major new Cancer Centres at the University of Hong Kong. My research has led to patented inventions, notably phosphorylation-state-specific antibodies, which generated significant royalties. Throughout my academic career, I have been awarded substantial grants, including single-applicant NIH grants, and have a strong focus on cancer microevolution, genetic instability, and therapeutic advancements.
