Biography

Richard Fortier is a full professor at Université Laval, specializing in the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at École Polytechnique de Montréal in 2007, following a Master's degree in the same field in 2004, and a Bachelor's degree in 2002. Fortier conducted his postdoctoral research at the Iyengar Lab & Systems Biology Center, Mount Sinai School of Medicine from 2007 to 2011. He has notably received the Étoile de l'enseignement award from the Faculty of Sciences and Engineering three times, in 2007, 2010, and 2012. His research interests include Geophysics, Geotechnics, Environmental Impacts, Permafrost, and cryosphere processes, along with Environmental Monitoring. He is an active member of the academic community and supports graduate recruitment efforts within his department.
