Richard Fosu is a Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Monash University. He obtained his PhD in International Relations from Monash University in 2023, with a thesis that examined the politics of inclusion in local peacebuilding in Uganda. His current research focuses on inclusive approaches to peacebuilding, transitional justice, and critical international relations, as well as the politics of knowledge production in the context of the African Union. Fosu is actively involved in the Monash Global Peace and Security project, which investigates the causes and impacts of the marginalization of uniformed women and their caring responsibilities within UN peace operations. He has gathered data through interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observation involving UN peacekeepers in South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Additionally, Richard has received a grant from the Australian Civil-Military Centre aimed at studying gender inclusion and gender responsiveness in civil-military collaborations and their impacts on operational effectiveness in conflict and crisis responses. Previously, he has worked in the Ghanaian public service and consulted for various organizations on inclusive policymaking. He is currently completing a book manuscript titled 'Constitutive Politics Local: Conflict, Local Orders, Peacebuilding in Uganda' for Cambridge University Press.
