Biography

Richard Fracker is a Professor of Voice (Tenor) and Chair of the Vocal Arts Area at Michigan State University College of Music. He joined the MSU faculty in September 2004 after a distinguished career performing in major opera houses and concert halls around the world, including over 160 performances with the New York Metropolitan Opera. Fracker has appeared in 14 international and national radio broadcasts, taking on lead roles in productions such as Philip Glass’s 'Voyage'. He is known for his vocal versatility and has performed in a wide range of traditional and contemporary repertoires from composers like Britten, Beethoven, Verdi, and Glass. His career highlights include notable roles such as Cavaradossi in 'Tosca', Nadir in 'Les Pêcheurs de Perles', and Rodolfo in 'La Bohème', with performances spanning countries like Spain, Italy, Norway, and Japan, in addition to extensive performances throughout the United States. Beyond performance, he has been recognized with the MSU College of Music’s Withrow Excellence in Teaching Award, where his dedication has guided students to success in competitions and prestigious graduate programs.
