Biography

Professor Richard (Rik) Henson is a distinguished expert in Cognitive Neuroscience, specializing in the brain bases of memory, aging, and dementia. He completed his Natural Sciences degree at the University of Cambridge and a Master's in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh before returning to Cambridge for his PhD in cognitive psychology. With a strong foundation in neuroimaging, he has authored numerous publications and held postdoctoral fellowships at University College London. Since 2004, he has led a research group at the MRC Cognition & Brain Sciences Unit, where he also serves as Deputy Acting Director. A prominent member of the scientific community, he is the past President of the British Neuroscience Association and a Fellow of the British Academy. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Cambridge Centre for Ageing Neuroscience (CamCAN) and takes on PhD students as part of his commitment to developing future leaders in the field.
