Biography

Richard Hoggett is a Research Fellow in the UK team of the Electric Power Innovation Carbon-free Society project at the University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on investigating the conditions that policymakers, regulators, and grid operators need to accelerate the delivery of demand-side flexibility and local integration in electricity grids powered entirely by renewable energy. Prior to joining Edinburgh, Richard worked at Cardiff University on knowledge management and dissemination within the national EnergyREV consortium, as well as contributing to the Flex-Cool-Store project that focused on policy solutions for overheating and cooling in UK homes. He has extensive experience in energy policy governance, having been involved with the Energy Policy Group at Exeter University and projects related to Innovation Governance and Future Energy Systems. With a career dedicated to sustainable energy since 1996, Richard has managed numerous low carbon energy projects and supported various campaigns aimed at reducing emissions across national, regional, and local levels.
