Richard L. Kauffman serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Coalition Green Capital (CGC), the nation’s largest ‘green bank.’ His career began in the private sector, where he became a leader at world-renowned financial institutions. He was a partner at Goldman Sachs and chaired its Global Financing Group, and at Morgan Stanley he served as Vice Chairman of the Institutional Securities business, co-heading the Banking Department. Kauffman has been CEO of Good Energies, Inc., investing in clean energy and energy-efficient technology, and currently leads as independent director at Generate Capital PBC, a key financier and owner in sustainable infrastructure. In the public sector, he has chaired the Energy Finance State of New York, overseeing the Reforming Energy Vision initiative that modernized utility regulations and enabled cleaner energy integration. He also spearheaded the creation of the NY Green Bank, mobilizing over $8 billion for clean energy projects. Kauffman has served as Chair of the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) and has been a senior advisor at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). He also served as Senior Advisor to U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu during the restructuring of the Department of Energy's Loan Program. An experienced board member, Kauffman has served on boards including the Wallace Foundation, Brookings Institution, and Wildlife Conservation Society, and is a co-chair of the advisory board for the Center for Business and the Environment at Yale.
