Biography

Richard Morris is an Associate Professor at the UNSW Business School, specializing in the fields of financial accounting, international accounting, and accounting history. He has an extensive academic background, holding a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from Queensland University, an MBA, and a PhD from UNSW. His research focuses on various aspects of financial reporting, including the compliance impact of IFRS, the international harmonisation of financial reporting, and the determinants of financial transparency in Asian countries. Morris has received prestigious ARC Discovery Grants for his work in international accounting, and his research has been published in several international refereed journals as well as professional journals and book chapters. He has been recognized for his teaching excellence, receiving the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence in 2014, and the Bill Birkett Award for teaching excellence in his faculty in 2013. In addition to his research and teaching duties, Morris supervises undergraduate and postgraduate research theses and serves on the University's Human Research Ethics Committee. He previously worked in the auditing section of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Sydney.
