Dr. Richard Ouellet

Biography

Richard Ouellet is a full professor in the Faculty of Law at Université Laval, specializing in international economic law. He has significant academic contributions in the area of international trade agreements, particularly concerning the World Trade Organization (WTO) and regional integration agreements. His research interests include the legal aspects of economic globalization, investment law, and the implications of international agreements on public health and environmental standards. Ouellet holds a PhD from Université Laval, where his dissertation focused on the role of science in the application of sanitary and phytosanitary measures under the WTO framework. In addition to his research, he has been actively involved in teaching high-level courses on international economic law and conducting research with various international institutions, including the WTO. Ouellet has also directed numerous master’s theses and doctoral projects, helping to educate the next generation of legal scholars.
