Biography

Richard J. Reddick serves as the Senior Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at the University of Texas at Austin, a role he assumed after serving as the inaugural associate dean for equity, community engagement, and outreach in the College of Education. He is a professor in the Program in Higher Education Leadership within the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy. His scholarship focuses on the experiences of faculty of color, mentoring relationships with Black students, and work-life balance in academia. Reddick teaches graduate courses on the history of higher education and qualitative research methods, and he has been actively involved in various committees aimed at enhancing diversity and racial equity within the university. He co-chaired the Council on Racial and Ethnic Equity and has been recognized with several awards for his teaching and scholarship, including the President's Award for Global Learning and the Outstanding Community-Based Learning Professor award. Reddick holds an Ed.D. and Ed.M. from Harvard University and a B.A. in Plan II with a concentration in African American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. He has also contributed significantly to the discourse on diversity and engagement through numerous publications and co-authored books.
