Biography

Richard L. Revesz is the AnBryce Professor of Law and Dean Emeritus at New York University School of Law, where he has been a significant voice in the fields of environmental and regulatory law. With over ten books and 80 articles published in major law reviews and journals, he advocates for rational climate change policies and examines the institutional contexts of regulatory policy. Serving as an administrator in the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the White House, he oversaw hundreds of significant regulations aimed at improving climate resilience. He founded the Institute for Policy Integrity, which promotes effective climate change and environmental policies. As Dean from 2002 to 2013, he expanded the faculty size and raised substantial funds to support the School’s initiatives. He holds degrees from Princeton University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Yale Law School, where he was editor-in-chief of the Yale Law Journal. His clerkships include positions with Chief Judge Wilfred Feinberg and Justice Thurgood Marshall. Richard Revesz joined NYU Law in 1985 and has played a critical role in enhancing law education and public interest law initiatives.
