Biography

Richard Casey Sadler, PhD, MPH, is an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Michigan State University, where he engages in public health research through the Department of Public Health in Flint. He graduated with a BSc in Environmental Science Planning from the University of Michigan-Flint, and earned his PhD in Geography from the University of Western Ontario. He notes, 'My experiences growing up in the Flint region, dealing with industrial growth and subsequent deindustrialization, have had a profound influence on the built form, and have shaped my drive to address inequalities arising from the imbalances between salutogenic and pathogenic properties in urban areas.'
