Biography

Richard L. Sandor is the Aaron Director Lecturer in Law and Economics at the University of Chicago Law School and an honorary Professor at the School of Economics at Fudan University and the University of Hong Kong. He is known worldwide as the 'Father of Financial Futures' and has contributed significantly to the field of environmental finance, particularly carbon trading. His accolades include being named by TIME Magazine as a 'Hero of the Planet' in 2002 and a 'Hero of the Environment' in 2007. In 2013, he was awarded the title Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur in France for his accomplishments in environmental finance and carbon trading. He has served on the boards of directors of major commodities futures exchanges and has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses in universities across the United States, as well as lectured widely in Europe and Asia. Sandor has authored and co-authored numerous academic publications and books on finance and environmental topics, with recent works including 'As I Saw It' and 'Electronic Trading and Blockchain: Tomorrow.' He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the City University of New York, Brooklyn College, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota, along with an honorary doctorate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH).
