Biography

Richard Siow is a graduate of King’s College London, holding a BSc in Nutrition and a PhD in Cardiovascular Physiology. He conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Medicine, University of Cambridge, before joining King's as a lecturer in November 2001. Siow has served as Vice-Dean for International Affairs in the Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine and as Faculty Lead for King's Service Committee. In 2015, he became the Director of a cross-university consortium focused on multidisciplinary approaches to understand the mechanisms of ageing and improve health span with respect to the social and economic impact of ageing. He is currently a Visiting Professor in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics within the Medical Sciences Division and holds an honorary position as Secretary General of the European Society for Preventive Medicine. His research team investigates the role of nutrigenomics in ageing, redox signalling, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health. Siow’s research primarily takes place at the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence, and he holds honorary roles at the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. Additionally, he has industry leadership roles at the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre Brain Health.
