Richard Staelin is a Professor Emeritus of Business Administration at the Fuqua School of Business, Duke University, where he has been a faculty member since 1982. He previously taught for 13 years at Carnegie Mellon University and has also been a faculty member at the Australian Graduate School of Management and the University of Chicago. Staelin has served as the editor of Marketing Science and has held the position of president of the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science (ISMS). He has received numerous awards for his research, including paper awards from Marketing Science and the Journal of Marketing Research (JMR), as well as the Converse Award and the AMA Educators Award. In 2016, he was recognized with a teaching award for his contributions to the DKU program. Staelin has also served on the boards of small start-ups and has been involved in marketing within the medical device sector, developing innovative survey instruments to assess patient experiences. After retiring from administrative roles, he returned to the classroom to teach the core marketing course.
