Professor Richard Stone studied Engineering at the University of Cambridge, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence through a thick sandwich course. His research interests predominantly focus on Gasoline Direct Injection Engines, including sprays, mixture preparation, combustion, and particulate emissions. Additionally, he has side interests in laminar burning velocity measurements and vehicle systems modeling, particularly hybrid vehicles. He also collaborates with the Cryogenic Engineering group on Stirling cycle devices.
