Richard Švejkar received his master’s degree in Laser Technique Electronics in 2016 and completed his PhD degree in Physical Engineering in 2021 at the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering at Czech Technical University in Prague. For seven years, his main research area focused on near- and mid-infrared free-space solid-state lasers, predominantly utilizing erbium iron-based laser gain media emitting in the range of 3 to 5 µm. In 2023, he became a Research Fellow at the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton, where his main research interest has shifted to high-power thulium fibre lasers capable of generating laser radiation at 2 µm. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 journal and conference papers and is currently a member of Optica and SPIE.
