Biography

Professor Richard J Whitby is a distinguished academic in the field of Organic Chemistry at the University of Southampton. He graduated with a BA in Natural Sciences from Trinity College, Cambridge University in 1982. He completed his PhD under the supervision of Professor P. G. Sammes at the University of Leeds and went on to a fellowship with Professor P. J. Kocienski at the University of Southampton. His research interests also encompass endohedral fullerenes, flow chemistry, and organic optoelectronics, where he designs and synthesizes molecules with applications in Organic Light Emitting Diodes. Whitby is well-respected in his field and continues to explore innovative synthetic methodologies to address significant scientific and societal challenges.
