Dr. Rick Body

Biography

Rick Body is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Manchester and holds an honorary consultant position at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He is the Group Director of Research & Innovation and the lead for Business Engagement & Innovation in the School of Medical Science. His research primarily focuses on the early diagnosis of acute coronary syndromes with an emphasis on biomarkers, specifically high sensitivity cardiac troponin. He has methodological expertise in clinical epidemiology, which encompasses diagnostics, cohort studies, and late phase clinical trials. Body is also the Chief Investigator of the Bedside Evaluation Sensitive Troponin (BEST) Study, which involves a large cohort aimed at improving diagnostic accuracy in emergency medicine. His extensive experience is complemented by a significant portfolio of academic and commercial studies, demonstrating a passion for high-quality translational research. He plays a pivotal role in PhD supervision and academic training, having overseen several successful PhD projects over the past eight years. Body's contributions extend beyond research to include notable involvement in various committees and professional bodies within emergency medicine.
