Biography

Rick Geddes is a Professor in the Department of Policy Analysis and Management at Cornell University and the Founding Director of the Cornell Program in Infrastructure Policy (CPIP). His research focuses on funding, financing, permitting, operation, and maintenance of heavy civil and social infrastructure, with a particular emphasis on the adoption of new technologies. Geddes' work includes network-wide road pricing, infrastructure resilience, and innovative financing through public-private partnerships. He is involved in the Graduate Fields of Systems Engineering, Economics, and Public Affairs at Cornell and holds advisory roles, including as a Visiting Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. His past roles include being a senior economist at the Council of Economic Advisors and a commissioner on the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission. Additionally, he served as a Fulbright Senior Scholar studying transportation public-private partnerships in Australia and has taught at Yale Law School. Geddes has published in numerous academic journals such as Nature and the American Economic Review and has been recognized with multiple teaching and advising awards.
