Biography

Rick Vogel is a Full Professor of Public Management at the University of Hamburg. His research interests encompass public sector leadership, mixed governance, and institutional change in the public sector. He has published extensively in renowned international journals such as Organization Studies and Public Administration, contributing significantly to the field's understanding of public leadership theories and the complexities of public sector reform. Prior to his position at the University of Hamburg, he held a professorship at Zeppelin University in Friedrichshafen and worked as a research associate at the University of Hamburg, where he earned his Venia legendi in Business Administration. Vogel completed his doctorate with honors at Bergische University Wuppertal, focusing on new public management institutionalization. His professional experience includes seven years as a consultant on administrative modernization and benchmarking in the public sector, enhancing his theoretical insights with practical applications. He regularly contributes to academic discourse through various publications and has influenced how public sector organizations are managed and evaluated.
