Biography

Rico Piehler studied Business Studies and Economics at the University of Bremen in Germany, obtaining a graduate qualification in 2005. He later earned his Doctorate in Economics and Social Sciences, focusing on Internal Brand Management, graduating with the highest honors in 2010. Piehler has worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Bremen's Chair of Innovative Brand Management and held a consultancy position as a Senior Consultant at KEYLENS Research Center from 2010 to 2013. He returned to Bremen as a Postdoctoral researcher and joined the Department of Marketing at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia in 2020. His research interests include branding perspectives, internal and employer branding, brand communication, and city branding. He has published extensively in leading marketing journals and served as an editorial board member for several academic publications. Piehler is committed to bridging the academic-practitioner gap and has supervised numerous undergraduate, master's, and PhD students. He also engages actively in community and leadership roles, enhancing curriculum development, and leading research training programs at the university.
