Dr. Rifat Atun

Biography

Rifat Atun is a Professor of Global Health Systems at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where he also serves as the Vice Dean for Non-Degree Education. He leads the Health System Innovation Lab and has significantly contributed to health system reforms globally. His work encompasses research on health systems performance, adoption of health innovations, and developing new strategies for health care delivery. Previously, he held roles such as Faculty Chair of the Harvard Ministerial Leadership Program and has served as a Visiting Professor at institutions like Imperial College London and Fukushima University in Japan. Atun was involved with the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria, overseeing major health investments across multiple countries. He has published over 500 papers in leading journals and has been recognized multiple times as a Highly Cited Researcher. His experience includes advising governments and organizations on health system challenges and reforms, and he has led educational programs within the domain of public health. He holds degrees from the University of London and Imperial College London, along with multiple fellowships in the field of public health and general practice.
